Gil Scott Sports Management was founded in 1979 when Hamilton Tiger-Cats Guard Nick Bastaja asked his then financial advisor, Gil Scott, to represent him in his contract negotiations. Bastaja immediately signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Toronto Argonauts and a budding sports representation business was born.

GSSM has represented more CFL players than any other agency in the history of the game. GSSM has helped more players transition from the CFL to the NFL than any other agency. GSSM clients have won more Grey Cup, individual awards and received more All-Star selections than any other agency.

GSSM currently represents more than 60 CFL players, as well as several head coaches and general managers.
