Gil Scott Sports Management was founded in 1979 when Hamilton Tiger-Cats Guard Nick Bastaja asked his then financial advisor, Gil Scott, to represent him in his contract negotiations. Bastaja immediately signed a lucrative free-agent contract with the Toronto Argonauts and a budding business was born.

Two years later Bastaja was traded to Winnipeg, and he introduced Gil to the then starting quarterback for the Blue Bombers, Dieter Brock. Shortly thereafter, Gil made headlines across North America when he engineered a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Rams that made Brock the team’s starting quarterback in 1985.

Over three hundred contract negotiations later, Gil Scott Sports Management is universally recognized as a pre-eminent NFL & CFL player representative agency.
